Stormy Leather

"The-e-e-e-re she is — Ms. Leather Colorado!" Bert Parks would be spinning in his grave at the thought of emceeing this contest. The Ms. Leather Colorado 2007 competition is a far cry from — and far more interesting than — the Miss America pageant. Let's see: Predictable tedious questions about world peace, or a hot fantasy spanking skit? Bland Barbie dolls in bathing suits bouncing down the runway, or leather/fetish formalwear-clad dommes and subs stalking the catwalk?

The Ms. Leather Colorado title was originally registered in 1997. After changing ownership a few times, it finally came to rest in the capable hands of co-producers Miss Eryn and Michael Vrooman. Miss Eryn says that the title's goal is to promote education about the leather/BDSM community and to raise funds for the titleholder's choice of a Colorado non-profit agency.

The wild weekend got going last night at 9 p.m. at the Denver Eagle (1475 36th Street) with a meet-and-greet and the announcement of the contestants and judges. Be there today at 11 a.m. sharp when the grrrls get grilled during contestant interviews at the Denver Sanctuary (www.denversanctuary.com). After a disco nap, lather up your leathers and strike out for the Atrium Bar & Grill (554 South Broadway) at 8 p.m. to see Jae Januze, Ms. Leather Colorado 2006, step down and hand her crown of thorns to the wicked winner. Tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m., fly back to the Eagle to raise a beer and give one last cheer for the victorious vixen at her congratulatory beer bust. Come on, baby, make it hurt so good!

All events are open to the public, and all proceeds go toward the Ms. Leather Colorado 2007 travel fund, to further the title's outreach programs. For more info, contact Miss Eryn at erynscreations@hotmail.com.
