Freedom Isn't Free

Don't expect to see any of FoxNews's business yappers at today's Cost of Freedom Peace and Protest Party. That network's "Cost of Freedom" biz-news lineup has nothing to do with the peace presentation/party that kicks off at the Mercury Café, 2199 California Street, at 2 p.m. This Cost of Freedom is subtitled "The Anthology of Peace and Activism," and more than a hundred contributors are included in the book, which was published by Michael Annis's Berthoud-based Howling Dog Press. Many of them write of the importance of free speech -- and there will be plenty at the Merc, where not only will co-editors and contributors including Mike Palecek speak, but anyone can go up to the open mike and make a statement. For information on the event, call 303-294-9258; for more on the book, go to www.myspace.com/costoffreedombook.
